Also known as CCS, Crown Commercial Service.

The government's central buying organisation, which negotiates framework agreements the whole public sector can buy through. Crown Commercial Service became the Government Commercial Agency on 1 April 2026, merging with the Cabinet Office's central commercial teams. Existing frameworks, supplier listings and call-off contracts carried over unchanged, so nothing needed doing at the supplier end.

Getting registered

Bid onto individual agreements when they open. CCS runs its own eSourcing system for competitions.

Watch out for

Most material written before April 2026 still says CCS, and the frameworks themselves kept their names, so expect to see both used interchangeably for a while. Being on a GCA framework is not a contract: it gets you into the mini-competitions, and you still have to win them.
