Shared online tendering system used by hundreds of public bodies to advertise contracts, run tenders and receive bids. One supplier account covers every buyer on it; Proactis says your profile reaches over 30,000 buyers from more than 400 organisations.

Who uses it
Councils, NHS trusts, housing associations, combined authorities, fire and ambulance services, universities and some central bodies. Regional portals such as The Chest and EastMidsTenders are front doors to the same system.
What ProContract is
ProContract is an online tendering system run by Proactis. Councils, NHS trusts, housing associations, combined authorities, universities and other public bodies use it to advertise contracts, run tenders and receive bids. Because so many buyers share one system, a single supplier account lets you see and respond to all of them, and regional portals such as The Chest in the North West are front doors to it.
You can search current opportunities on the ProContract website without logging in, by buyer, portal, region, category or keyword. To download documents, ask questions or bid, you need to register.
Registering your business
Registration is free. Give your organisation name and email address, then complete a short form with your company details, a description of what you do, up to six keywords, and the categories and regions you cover. The first person to register becomes your company administrator and can add colleagues.
The ProContract team checks each application, usually within the hour. Click the link in the confirmation email: until you do, you cannot log in and buyers cannot see your profile. Register with a shared mailbox such as tenders@ so alerts are not lost when someone is away or leaves.
Alerts and finding opportunities
Each night ProContract matches new opportunities against the categories and regions on your profile and emails you a summary, which makes those choices the most important part of your profile. Pick everything that genuinely fits, and look again whenever you add a service.
Do not rely on alerts alone: buyers sometimes file work under a category you would not expect, so search the full list now and then. Workgroups let colleagues see and pick up each other's bids, and the terms let Proactis switch off usernames unused for 60 days, so log in regularly.
The Procurement Act 2023 and your share code
Since 24 February 2025 new procurements in England, Wales and Northern Ireland run under the Procurement Act 2023, and buyers using ProContract publish their notices to Find a Tender, the government's Central Digital Platform. You still find and answer the tender on ProContract.
Before you bid on a tender run under the Act, register free on Find a Tender, complete your supplier information and generate a share code. The tender documents say how to hand it over, usually by pasting it into the tendering system or attaching a file. Make a new share code whenever your details change.
Getting registered
Free registration at procontract.due-north.com: your organisation name and email, then company details, a description with up to six keywords, and the categories and regions you cover. Click the confirmation link in the email: until you do, buyers cannot see you.

Common questions
Does ProContract cost anything?
No. Registering and responding to tenders is free for suppliers.
Do I need a separate account for every council?
Not for buyers on the shared ProContract system: one registration covers them, and The Chest confirms ProContract users need not register again. Some buyers use a different system entirely, so check where each tender is hosted.
How long does ProContract approval take?
Usually within an hour. If you hear nothing within 48 hours, check your spam folder, then contact Proactis supplier support.
Why am I not getting the right alerts?
Alerts are matched overnight against the categories and regions on your profile. Review them, add any that fit, and search the full opportunities list as well.
Do I still need to register on Find a Tender?
For tenders run under the Procurement Act 2023, yes. Register free on Find a Tender when you want to bid, generate a share code, and submit it as the tender documents say.
