All UK contracting authorities: central government, local authorities, NHS, utilities, devolved bodies.
What Find a Tender is
Find a Tender is the government website where public sector buyers publish notices about contract opportunities and the contracts they have awarded. Since the Procurement Act 2023 came into force on 24 February 2025 it has also been the Central Digital Platform: the one place regulated procurement notices are published, and where suppliers register and keep their details.
It is free for everyone. You can search and read notices without signing in. Register and you can save searches and get an email when a matching opportunity is published.
Registering your business
There are three steps. Create a GOV.UK One Login, then register your organisation as a supplier with your Companies House number (or equivalent, such as a Charity Commission number) and registered address. Next, fill in your supplier information: basic details, connected persons, qualifications, trade assurances, exclusions and financial information. Finally, declare that it is accurate and create a share code.
Decide who your first administrator will be before you start: that person sets up the account and adds and approves colleagues. Your business gets a unique identifier, and the information you enter is reused for every tender instead of retyped.
You do not bid on Find a Tender
Find a Tender is where you find opportunities and keep your supplier information. The bid itself goes to the buyer the way the tender notice or documents say, usually through the buyer's own eSourcing system, where you paste your share code or attach the downloaded file.
In a competitive procedure the buyer must confirm you have completed these steps by the end of the tendering period, so do not leave registration until the day the bid is due.
Find a Tender or Contracts Finder?
For procurements under the Procurement Act 2023, smaller (below threshold) opportunities are published on Find a Tender too: from £12,000 including VAT for central government buyers and £30,000 including VAT for other public bodies. That replaced the old rule that put them on Contracts Finder.
Contracts Finder still exists, but only for procurements that began under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, which no new procurement has used since 24 February 2025. If you only watch Contracts Finder, you will miss new opportunities.
Getting registered
Register once on the Central Digital Platform. You get a unique supplier identifier and a reusable supplier information record (accounts, insurance, convictions, connected persons) that you share with buyers instead of retyping it.

Watch out for
FTS publishes notices; it is not where most bids are submitted. Notices link out to whichever eSourcing platform the buyer uses, and that is where the real workload sits. From 1 April 2026 buyers must include your CDP unique identifier in below-threshold contract details notices, so registration is effectively mandatory for public work.

Is it free to register on Find a Tender?
Yes. Government guidance says Find a Tender is free for everyone to use, buyers and suppliers alike.
Do I need to register to search for tenders?
No. Anyone can search and read notices. You need an account to save searches, get email alerts and share your supplier information with buyers.
When should I register?
Guidance says you only need to register when you want to bid. In a competitive procedure the buyer must confirm you have completed the steps before the tendering period ends, so register well before the deadline.
Can I submit my bid through Find a Tender?
No. You submit your bid the way the buyer sets out in the tender notice or documents, usually their own eSourcing system, and include your Find a Tender share code or the downloaded file with it.
Are small contracts still on Contracts Finder?
For procurements under the Procurement Act 2023, below-threshold notices from £12,000 (central government) or £30,000 (other buyers), including VAT, go on Find a Tender. Contracts Finder now carries only procurements that began under the old 2015 regulations.
