Who uses it
All UK contracting authorities: central government, local authorities, NHS, utilities, devolved bodies.
Getting registered
Register once on the Central Digital Platform. You get a unique supplier identifier and a reusable supplier information record (accounts, insurance, convictions, connected persons) that you share with buyers instead of retyping it.
Watch out for
FTS publishes notices; it is not where most bids are submitted. Notices link out to whichever eSourcing platform the buyer uses, and that is where the real workload sits. From 1 April 2026 buyers must include your CDP unique identifier in below-threshold contract details notices, so registration is effectively mandatory for public work.
